Porcine brucellosis, an emerging risk for the extensive rearing system

0
450

Although practically eradicated in intensive rearing system, Brucellosis can represent a serious health problem with emergent character in pigs kept in extensive rearing system, where the type of management, the persistence of carriers and the possibility of contact with wild animals facilitate the introduction of the agent and its maintenance. These epidemiological characteristics make the fight against the disease even more complicated, based on hygienic measures and repeated serological controls. In this publication we cover all aspects of brucellosis: etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical and lesion, diagnosis, prophylaxis, treatment, control and eradication.
